Barbell Bicep Curl

The Barbell Bicep Curl exercise can be performed with a barbell or an EZ bar and it works the front of the arms. Various grip positions can be used to change the intensity of the exercise

Primary Muscle(s):   Biceps brachii

Secondary Muscle(s): BrachialisBrachioradialis

 

Starting Position

  • Stand with your feet hip width apart
  • Hold a barbell with an underhand shoulder width grip at arms length
  • Keep shoulders back, chest out and stomach tight

Exercise Movement

  • Curl the barbell up until it reaches chest height
  • Pause briefly, then lower the weight to the start under control
  • Repeat as necessary keeping the movement smooth and continuous
