Back Extension

The back extension exercise is performed on an exercise mat and it works the lower back

Primary Muscle(s): Erector Spinae


Starting Position

  • Lie on your tummy
  • Place your hands by the side of your head

Exercise Movement

  • Raise your head and shoulders up
  • Pause briefly, then slowly return to the starting position
  • Repeat as necessary keeping the movement smooth and continuous
